We used to have benches all around Lochgelly, but most were removed due to the perception that public benches encourages anti-social behaviour in youths by providing a space for them to sit. We now have an over-concentration of benches in the centre of the town, but lack seating areas elsewhere. Lochgelly is built on a hill, let's think about our elderly population and residents that suffer from mobility issues and bring back public benches so that residents can rest if required.
Other towns have benches so that residents can rest if required and Lochgelly used to! Lochgelly is built on a slope, let's provide for elderly residents and residents with mobility issues by re-instating benching throughout the town rather than concentrating seating in the town centre.
