The advantage of direct-democracy is that a larger part of the population will take part in the process of decision-making. The politicians after all consist of a limited group who neither have the time, possibilities or interest in considering all facts.

Although I am an adamant believer in 'Direct Democracy' I cannot 'buy' into DDI for the following reasons: DDI states that it is a 'Direct Democracy'. The very concept of direct democracy is 'total' participation of 'all voters' in 'all' policy. Anything other than this is 'Representative Democracy' . . . . Though DDI advocates direct democracy, it is registered in Ireland as a 'Representative Political Party'. (one of 19 such parties). Therein the Basic Contradiction.
A Direct Democracy is the same as a Representative Democracy with one difference. The people have the power to initiate referendum to create, change or throw out laws created by their elected representatives.
